Butterflies and embossing

This design was inspired by the Butterflyspotchallenge #40 Butterflies +E = Embossing

Shades of pink seem to be a perennial favourite for feminine-themed cards. Popular current trends in designs of all kinds include butterflies and scrip text. I have combined all these for my card.

Bubblegum cardstock forms the first layer on the card base. Then I used a layer of Pink Mary script printed paper. I cut two circles from silver cardstock and white embossed cardstock from my stash.

After stamping the butterfly on the vellum with Versamark, I heat embossed with seafoam white embossing powder. This particular embossing powder creates such a beautiful, natural look for the details of the butterfly wings.

I fussy cut the butterfly after colouring it at the back with different shades of pink and lilac. The giant butterfly is 'anchored' by taking the ends of its wings right up to the edge of the card.

Flat pearls complete the picture.

Christmas card in pink

Bubblegum cardstock was matted onto a white cardbase. I topped that with a pretty printed script paper. A circle die cut from holly-embossed plain white cardstock was placed under a silver mirror cardstock Tattered Lace Starlight circle, before finishing the card with silver Spellbinders flourishes and a pointsettia made with white heat-embossing on vellum. The vellum was coloured at the back of the flower with water colour paint.

Use whatever flourishes and poinsettia stamps and dies you already have, on this pretty pink paper.

Summer 2015 colour trends

Have you ever noticed that seasonal colour trends tend to be the same for weddings, decor and fashion?

This week I first noticed the striking combination of yellow, black and white in the window display of a major store in a mall. A few meters further, I noticed the same colours in another store window to the right. It was quite a surprise. As I continued walking, I noticed the same colours inside four more stores... It is, therefore, very likely that yellow, black and white will pop up somewhere in your wardrobe or decor, or that they will be part of a wedding colour scheme, ending up in photo memories.

Use these collections of butterflies and flowers to follow the colour trend on your summer cards and scrapbooking..
